OGC Launches Four New Public Sector Deals
The Office of Government Commerce has announced four new government deals, worth over £1 billion, which will hopefully allow public sector organisations to make substantial savings on the cost of buying goods and services.
The four deals, which have all been supported by the OGC, include:
· A £1 billion four-year electricity framework led by OGCbuying.solutions, which will provide a portion of electricity from renewable sources
· A four-year print services framework led by the Department for Transport to be awarded this week, giving access to suppliers across the UK with the quality, capacity & technical capability to serve public sector customers
· A three-year framework agreement on the supply of tyres & vehicle glass led by the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (NHS PASA) and
· A three-year framework agreement on the supply of tyres & vehicle glass led by the Police Information Technology Organisation (PITO).
OGC's Executive Director of Collaborative Procurement, Richard Abbott, commented that these new deals support the Government's recently announced strategy to transform government procurement, saying:
"Transforming Government Procurement has called for a step change in the way government approaches procurement, and a step change in the results we deliver.
It's challenging, but it's a very positive sign that procurement is being paid this kind of attention, and reflects how central procurement is to delivering Government's most significant projects as well as achieving best value for money.
OGC has been making rapid progress in delivering some of the key initiatives that will drive and support this transformation, such as the new Procurement Capability Reviews and the development of the Government Procurement Service.
Meanwhile these new collaborative deals show just what can be achieved where government departments work together to negotiate high quality deals."
